Update (posted 3-29-06):

Today I received a notification from Paypal that if I return the fraudulent items to the seller, I will get a full refund including shipping. But I would have to pay for the return. I emailed them back and said that the seller should pay for the return shipping. Why should a buyer of fraudulent items be out any money at all? But - it is a start. At least, they know that somebody's on to them and is willing to take action. :-)

Update (posted 3-27-06):

A number of people have volunteered to help find fraudulent listings on eBay - mostly on April 1. All of this information will be compiled and sent to eBay. Not the names of the people who did the work, just the work itself. The results and findings will all be posted here.

Update (posted 3-13-06):

Well, here it is March 13th and I'm still suspended from the boards. I did get a call from Michael Dearing on Friday - after leaving two messages on his phone as well as emails and other phone messages to other eBay employees. He took the information, and I forwarded all of the relevant emails, but so far nothing has happened and I haven't heard back.
Gee - I wonder who's hiding what? What are they covering up and just how big is this problem?

Update (posted 3-08-06):

Yesterday (still March 7th) I got a 4th pink slap and was suspended from the boards for seven days for advertising a commercial web site (or something similar) and for using hate speech, insults, or something similar - according to eBay. What are they talking about? I don't know - and in spite of two phone calls and some emails they won't tell me. Obviously, they don't like people fighting fraud. I wonder why. Doesn't make sense to me. Anyone know?

THREE Pink slaps today! All from posting on the Trust & Safety board about the fraud on eBay. No Trust & Safety there, obviously. Weird. Here are the details:

Here's the full chain of emails between me and eBay. It would be funny if it all wasn't so sad:

Here's the complaint that I filed with Paypal when I made a claim for refund. eBay won't take the claim directly, but redirected me to Paypal:
